Professional Tool Reviews for Pros

Being in compliance with OSHA’s rules for silica dust exposure has multiple layers to it – Table 1, Objective Data, and Scheduled Air Monitoring. No matter which direction your job takes you, it’s a combination of dust extraction, tools, and accessories that make or break your compliance. Bosch concrete accessories cover a wide range of applications and several of them will work in any brand’s concrete tools.

A quick note on the dust collection accessories – Bosch uses a 1-3/8″ nozzle on their dust extractors. If you’re using a different model, you can get a 1-1/4″ or 2″ adapter to make yours fit.

The Bosch HDC100 is a dust collection accessory that fits most newer Bosch SDS-Plus rotary hammers. When you’re targetting a specific depth (up to 4-3/4″), this will allow you to keep it accurate while collecting dust right at the concrete surface before it has a chance to become airborne. A metal sliding rail system ensures that it can stand up to tough job site environments.

*Compatible models: 11253VSR, 11255VSR, RH228VC, RH328VC, RH328VCQ, RHH181-01, 11536-C, 11536VSR

Some of the most useful dust collection accessories Bosch has are the HDC200/250 dust shrouds simply for the fact that they’re universal – you can use anyone’s SDS-Plus or SDS-Max rotary hammers with them.

Two chambers make the magic happen. One lets the bit pass through to the drilling surface while the second maintains suction against it. The combination collects the dust while letting you stick the shroud to the floor, wall, or ceiling for dust collection. As long as you can fit the full seal on the drilling surface, you’re good to go.

Bosch SpeedClean hollow core SDS-Plus and SDS-Max rotary hammer bits make the concrete chemical anchor installation process easier and less time-consuming. By collecting concrete dust at its point of creation, you no longer have to blow out and brush the hole before setting your anchors. In Bosch’s internal testing, it reduces installation time by more than a minute and a half per anchor – big time savings on large jobs.

It may seem like an impossible task to collect concrete dust during the demolition phase, but a close look at a chisel in action shows that it kicks the dust straight out. That’s what the Bosch HDC400 takes advantage of, pulling the dust into your extractor and leaving larger chips and pieces to fall away.

The clamping design allows it to fit any of your Bosch SDS-Max hammers along with their spline combination and demo hammers. It offers simple adjustments to accommodate different chisel lengths as well.

Worried about what happens to the shroud when you break through?

A rubber bumper at the base cushions the blow to ensure that you can keep working.

Similar to the Bosch HDC300 dust collection shroud for demo work, the HDC400 does the same job for Bosch’s 1-1/8″ breaker hammers. You get the same adjustment for different chisel sizes and the shroud can flex up or down as you come into contact with the demo surface.

If you’re going to be doing any concrete cutting or scoring with your grinder, you’ll create a literal cloud of concrete dust. Adding a Bosch grinder shroud lets you get the job done without the surrounding cloud to worry about. Bosch includes a screw-based depth adjustment with a large, stable foot plate so you can plunge down and cut or score at the right depth every time.

*Compatible models: GWS10-45/P/PD, GWS13-50/VS/VSP/P/PD, AG series and 1800 series grinders; 18V cordless grinders: GWS18V-45C/PC/PSC

*Compatible models: 1800, AG, and GWS series 4.5 In. and 5 In. small angle grinders (excluding GWS8-45 and GWS9-45)

Surface grinding is another concrete application that kicks up a ton of dust for your compliance manager to worry about. Bosch surface grinding shrouds bring you into compliance to make his or her job that much easier. You won’t need any tools to install the shroud and there’s a removable nose piece at the front for preparing surfaces right up against a wall.

The brush ring will eventually start to wear, but you’re not stuck purchasing a whole new accessory. You can easily replace the part and keep your shroud in service.

*Compatible models: GWS10-45/P/PD, GWS18V-45C/PC/PSC, GWS13-50/VS/VSP/P/PD, AG series and 1800 series grinders

*Compatible models: 1772-6, 1853-5, 1873-6, 1873-8, 1873-8D, 1974-8, 1974-8D, 1893-6 & 1893-6D (only with 7″ wheel), 1994-6 & 1994-6D (only with 7″ wheel)

You’ll notice that 2 of these 3 accessories are the same ones we recommend for concrete cutting and scoring. That’s because masonry tuckpointing is essentially the same concept as far as the tools and accessories are concerned. Whether you’re using 4-1/2″ or 6″ grinders to get the job done, Bosch offers you consistent depth, stability, and dust collection in the design of these tuckpointing shrouds.

*Compatible models: GWS10-45/P/PD, GWS13-50/VS/VSP/P/PD, AG series and 1800 series grinders; 18V cordless grinders: GWS18V-45C/PC/PSC
